Harmful Ingredients in your Household Cleaning Products

Did you know that most of us are exposed to chemical cleaning products and their residues at low levels on a daily basis? Unbeknown to us, these chemicals can enter our bodies either by breathing them in when they are in vapour form or by absorption through the skin or through ingestion of household dust and chemical residues left on dishes and cutlery. Cleaning product chemicals can also have a serious impact on aquatic ecosystems when they are flushed down the drain.

List of these harmful ingredients include but are not limited to:

  • Perchloroethylene or “PERC”
  • Butoxyethanol
  • Triclosan
  • Ammonia
  • Naphthalene
